Scarlet Redder

I am wearing a big fat A today.

My dearest Android devices, I am cheating on you!

A few months ago, I smashed up my HTC Evo and was in the market for a new phone.

After a lot of hemming and hawing between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3, I settled on the iPhone, even though I've been anti-iPhone for many years now. I won't get into my anti-iPhone antics today, but I will say that I felt very strongly about it.

My biggest concerns with the Galaxy S3 were the rumors about its antenna issues and its sheer size. Is bigger really not better? Can something really be too big? The S3 way too big.

Why couldn't they put something that sounds as good as ice cream sandwich into something more bite size?

I have a couple of weeks to test drive the iPhone. We'll see if this relationship lasts.

Suit Up!

My husband and I are going to Hawaii in 22 days. I'm totally ready!

Of course, every beach vacation requires a major investment in two things: smutty pleasure reading and new bathing suits!

I'll discuss my smutty reading list later, but first...

I recently found the perfect bathing suit top for my body. These cuties are from Ralph Lauren. They cover one of my problem areas, my protruding rib cage (I know, woe is me), and give me a slight (but desperately needed) boobage boost.

I ordered the aqua and violet from Nordstrom. Totally love them. They are cut like a halter, which makes my shoulders look narrower, and the longer length makes my waist look smaller. Yay on both counts. If I am brave enough, I may post some photos of me actually wearing them. Of course, I also don't want to scare anyone...

Until then, tell me: what bathing suits are you loving this season?

Boot Dilemma

For the first 26 years of my life, I thought I had freakishly large calves for my size.

This was further confirmed by my inability to find a pair of boots that would go over my gargantuan calves.

Then, something happened. All boots started fitting me, and they looked GOOD! So, either someone in the boot industry took notice of their curvy-calved consumers, or I was just out of my mind. Regardless, thanks boot makers!

KORS Michael Kors
Case in point: my latest addition to my boot collection, despite my promise that I would never buy another pair of boots again for the rest of my life after the last pair of boots I bought. Well, you know, those were classic! And well-made! And they'd last a lifetime!

And these new babies, well, they're classic! And well-made! And they'd last a lifetime! But, but, they're camel, not black! So there! Check them out! I love them.

Break Yo Neck

I coveted this necklace for two weeks before finally plunking down the big bucks (okay, not really) for it.

I went to Nordstrom's. I admired. I tried it on. I took it off. I put it back.

And repeated this process a few more times.

I swear, there's something about store lighting. It makes EVERYTHING look amazing.

And then, there's real lighting. You know, the shit we all have at home. Yeah, the stuff that tells the TRUTH!

What is the truth? It tells you that you're a fool for buying something just because you daydream about ladies' tea parties and flowy floral print dresses!

Anyway, I really did fall in love with this piece, but I still haven't had the right moment to wear it. It feels too big for me - too big of a statement.

I'm a small statement person - like, look at me! I like teeny tiny flowers, plaid, and stretchy pants! Okay, please don't look at me, but please do admire my pearl necklace.

With Love. From Paris.

My husband surprised me with these beauties last week. Yes, he is amazing. And yes, I love him the most in the world.

I will wear them to sleep,
while we eat
everywhere we go
I will never wear them
with pantyhose.

You Dress Ugly

My mom once told me I was weird looking.

Straight up.

TO MY FACE: "You are weird looking."

I suppose it didn't help that until I turned 22, I insisted on wearing overalls. And giant hoodies. And sneakers. And patterned stretchy pants. (Yes, it is true.)

I never wore dresses. Or skirts. Or cute shoes.

EVER.

I know. A tragedy, isn't it?

Today, I love wearing dresses, skirts, and cute shoes.

Today, I love all things that make me look normal and less "weird".

Last week in Las Vegas, I decided to search for a few missing pieces in my closet: classy (non-slutty) dresses and fun summery skirts.

(LR, TB) Urban Outfitters, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Neiman Marcus, BCBG, JCrew

Mission: success. Now, just finding the right place to wear a tulle white skirt.

What was I thinking?
