Get Literate: The Hunger Games

Has anyone else read The Hunger Games? I've just recently finished books one and two, and I am anxiously waiting for August 24th, when the third installation gets auto-delivered to my Kindle.

When I first read the synopsis for the book, I wasn't sure I'd be too keen on it because I'm not a huge Fantasy/Sci-Fi book reader. However, after hearing so much praise for it, I decided to get the first book in the trilogy.

Let's just say I finished the book in two sittings. It was addictive.

For those not in the know, here's a brief synopsis of the book: The United States is gone. North America has become Panem, a TV-dominated dictatorship run from a city called the Capitol. The rest of Panem is divided into 12 Districts (the former 13th revolted and no longer exists). The annual highlight in this world is the Hunger Games, a bloodthirsty reality TV show in which 24 teenagers chosen by lottery — two from each District — fight each other in a desolate environment called the ''arena.'' The winner gets a life of ease; the losers get death.

Now that I'm waiting for the third book to come out, I've got some time to read some other books. Has anyone read anything lately that they could recommend? I've been reading the second Dexter novel by Jeff Lindsay, and also, a very mediocre read by Jennifer Weiner. I really enjoyed In Her Shoes, but haven't felt the same spark from her since.

Anyway, please advise.
